Are you having difficulty relighting your Charlotte water heater pilot light? As holiday-makers return from their vacations, majority of water heaters need to be relit.

It is very easy to do. The materials you will need to do this is a pair of pliers, a box of household match and a good and reliable flash light. It’s very easy to learn by yourself.

Here are some tips on how to relight your Charlotte water heater pilot light

Step 1 – Set the gas-control knob to the Off position and turn the thermostat to its lowest setting (typically clockwise in both cases). Before proceeding, wait for at least five minutes to allow the gas to clear. If after five minutes you smell gas, stop immediately and seek a professional help. Call the utility company for immediate service.

Step 2 – Open or remove the outer and inner access covers for the burning chamber using a wrench or pliers. Use a flashlight to locate the end of the pilot-light tube that extends from the gas-control valve into the burning chamber. Adjust your position so you can comfortably reach this point with a wooden match and see what you are doing.

Before lighting the pilot-light tube, hold a match near its end and turn the control know to the pilot position. Depress and hold the reset button on the gas-control valve (see illustration). Remove the match as soon as the pilot lights, but keep the button depressed for about a minute.

Step 4 – If the pilot does not remain lighted, repeat all these steps. Otherwise, turn the gas cock on the control valve to the On position, set the thermostat to the desired temperature and replace the access panels.

And that is how you relight your Charlotte water heater pilot light. Now that you know how to relit your water heater pilot light, please follow the instructions carefully and ensure that your family are safe and your home out of harm.
